SNYOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:
This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
BRIEFING NOTE: Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

MY REVIEW OF Illuminae:
This book was such an interesting read. It isn’t written in a typical novel format, instead it is a compilation of files, hence the name Illuminae Files. This story is written from instant messgaes, email, audio files and reports. I have never read anything like this book and I must say that although it isn’t what I am used to, I really enjoyed the variety.
This is such a large read, but only took a few days to read with the format that the book is written in. There were a few times along the way that I was confused because this book is VERY information heavy.
The artwork in this book is absolutely brilliant and is part of the reason why I liked this book so much! Also, the cover is so cool!
I really enjoyed Kady and her relationship (or lack thereof) with Ezra. The twists and the turns along the way, were an excellent way to keep me entertained by the story. I think that AIDAN the artificial intelligence was one of my favorite parts as well, just because of the way that he was written.
This book is fast paced and FULL of action. I’ve heard and read several great reviews on the audiobooks for the Illuminae Files, so if a 600 page book is a bit daunting, for sure check out the audiobook!
If you enjoy young adult science fiction with both action and romance this book is for you!
Thanks for stopping by and reading this book review!!
