How I Use Social Media to Grow my Blog

Using Social Media To Grow Your Blog

Recently I have been working to grow my social media in attempts to reach more followers and in turn find new opportunities for my blog. There are multiple articles about how to grow your social media with different apps and tricks. I have been steadily growing my presence and would like to share some of what I do to direct traffic to my blog.

I use Facebook as a personal page and I usually only accept people that I know, but another way to use Facebook is by creating a page for your business or blog.

You can find me at Sarahjuneblog.

This is one platform that I don’t believe that I have gotten the full use of yet. I don’t have many followers, but I do use wordpress to automatically post my blog posts to this page which is nice because then I don’t have to remember to do it!

Facebook groups – I’ve joined a few Facebook groups that have been helpful in reaching a new audience. I have found that bloggers post a lot of question and answer threads in these Facebook groups. Sometimes what people post are totally unrelatable to me and my blog, but for the most part I enjoy reading them and usually learn something new at the same time!

Some of the groups that I am a part of are:

Boss Girl Bloggers

Blog Support Group

Bloggers Supporting Each Other

Blogger Connection

Are you a part of Facebook groups? Have you found a way to best utilize them to draw traffic to your blog?

I use my personal twitter to promote my blog, most people like to have seperate accounts, but I don’t have time or energy to constantly engage and upkeep two seperate accounts and I find that this works well for me and my audience!

Twitter is awesome for finding new blogs to follow. A lot of bloggers will host a tweet all about promoting your blog and your social medias.

Twitter is also great for finding brands to work with! I use #PRRequest, and have done some awesome collabs by using this hashtag, including Primula Tea Review and Kennebug Jewelry Review.

I recently reached a milestone on Twitter of 1,000 followers and I have had a boost of Twitter views to my blog ever since!

Pinterest is one social media account that bloggers swear by to get massive boosts of traffic. Pinterest is not my top source of viewers, but it is pretty high on the list.

I have steadily increased my presence on Pinterest by pinning, and pinning … and pinning some more. Consistency is key with this platform.

As you can see my monthly views have steadily increased over time. 16.4k monthly viewers may not seem like a lot to some people, but this is quite an improvement for me.

Another thing I take advantage of is the Business Account for Pinterest which shows me in depth stats to show me which pins are doing best, and which pins are getting the most clicks.

Pinterest groups —

Joining Pinterest groups is another tried and true way to direct more traffic to your pins, and in turn your blog or website.

boards

Some tips and tricks:

Create a board where you can pin all of your blog posts.

Create boards that are relevant to your niche. If you have a book blog, create boards that are full of books, bookshelves, bookstagrams. If you have a beauty blog, create boards that have makeup, hair and nails. And so on and so forth.

Oh boy! Instagram is one social media site that I wish I had more time for. I have been awful about posting on a regular basis. I still get quite a few clicks to my blog by listing my blog URL in my bio.

Stories are also a great way to show off a post that you are working on or content that is new!

Instagram is also a great place to find inspiration for blog posts, especially now that you can follow hashtags.

You can even use Goodreads to grow your blog! As of late, the majority of my posts have been book reviews, or just about books in general. My lifestyle posts are fewer and farther between and right now, I’m content with the with my blog posts.

I use Goodreads to promote my blog by adding my link at the end of my reviews. I have also joined different groups that have given me the opportunity to meet authors in need of reviews. This is an awesome opportunity to make connections and several of these conversations with me receiving a book in exchange for an honest review. If you are interested in reviewing books on your blog Goodreads is an amazing platform to get started!

*One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of new authors can’t afford to send print copies and they will offer an e-book.

If you would like a full-length post about requesting arcs, let me know in the comments!!

There are so many different social media outlets out there now. How many do you use for your blog?

What are your favorite social media sites to use? Let me know in the comments!

If you have any questions about what I do, or social media in general please don’t hesitate to ask and I will do my best to answer your questions!

Thanks for stopping by and reading!

  • This is a great post. I’ve gleaned some wonderful tips and will look for the Pinterest groups. I’m still learning how to get around on Pinterest but I do anticipate it being a great tool. Thanks for sharing.
