23 Things I’ve Learned in 23 Years

23 Things I’ve Learned in 23 Years

There is not much that I want to say to introduce this post, other than today I am turning 23, and I felt the need to reflect on some of the things that I have learned.

Some of these I won’t take time to elaborate on, others I will. Let’s get to it!

1) God is good.

2) Laughter is such an incredible medicine.

I’ve learned that sometimes (okay, let’s be real) must times we just need to laugh at ourselves and our mistakes and move past it.
3) There is no place like home (and by home I mean family).

I was at college for a long four years and it felt unnatural being away from my parents and siblings for such long stretches of time. Now that I have graduated and moved back home, it makes me so happy to be able to celebrate life’s little moments again.

Yes, they annoy me and get on my nerves, but my guess is that all families do this to one another.

4) Take the time to truly get to know people older than you.

This is so important. I think that the younger generations look at the older generations and think that there is nothing that they can teach them, which is such a bad mentality to have. If you are going through a rough season of life, seek out counsel. Go to your parents, your grandparents, or someone you trust. They may know a thing or two about what you are going through or they know someone who has gone through the same things.

5) Don’t let little things in life define you.

Your GPA, your grade on a test, when someone treated you wrong…

6) Pray.

1 Thessalonians 5: 7 Pray without ceasing.

Pray continually. Never stop praying.

Pray about everything. There is nothing too small or too insignificant to pray about.

7) Don’t let the world define who you are.

Let God define who you are.

The Bible says that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”.

Romans 12:2 – Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

8) Self-care is necessary

9) Even if you are out of school, keeping your mind actively engaged is important.

10) Stretching after running is a good thing to do.

11) You still have time to become whomever and whatever you want to become no matter how old you are.

On the flip side of things:

12) You can do great things now. No matter how young you are. Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young.

13) Always carry cash.

14) Getting your oil changed in your car is just as necessary as regularly going to the dentist and the doctor.

15) Going to church is not just about getting your weekly fill of Jesus. It is so much more than that.

16) It’s okay to cry.

Cry when you are happy. Cry when you are sad. It’s okay to feel emotions.

17) You are allowed to indulge every now and then.

Eat a piece of cake or a cookie, but don’t eat the whole cake.

18) Resolutions, goals and a new work out regime don’t need to start on the first day of the new year, and you don’t need to wait until Monday to start over.

19) Forgiveness is extremely important and necessary.

20) Home cooked meals trump the drive through any day of the week

(unless its Chick-Fil-A, then you will have a tough time deciding).

21) Money isn’t everything.

22) You don’t have to have your entire life figured out by the age of XX.

Plans change, life happens and that’s OKAY.

23) Life is fragile and we are not guaranteed another day, so don’t take it for granted.

My goals for my 23rd year of life:

Pay off my loans and my car by January of 2019.

Work out at least 3 times a week and cut sugar.

Continue blogging and growing my blog and my social media.

Get closer to my dream of becoming an author by writing more.

Thanks for stopping by and reading I hope you enjoyed it!

xoxo
