New Years Resolutions | Book Tag

I found this book tag somewhere on the world wide web and I’m only sorry that I don’t remember where I got it because I can’t credit it to anyone! I am one of those bloggers who doesn’t necessarily care if I’ve been tagged or not. Most times someone will tag me, and then I will forget and then other times I will stumble across a tag and tag myself.

So without further ado lets get into this New Years Resolutions Book Tag. Although its already February, I am a firm believer that you can make resolutions and goals at any point throughout the year (ESPECIALLY bookish ones 🙂 ).

1. An Author You’d Like To Read That You’ve Never Read

One week ago, I would have hands down said Brandon Sanderson, but I finally finished my first Brandon Sanderson book: Skyward! and boy was it a treat!

So, instead, I am going to say another author that will make the entire book world cringe: Leigh Bardugo.. yes, its sad to admit but I have never read a single one of these books.

She mostly writes young adult science fiction and fantasy.

Guys, these have been on my TBR for AGES, maybe this will be the year they come off!

Leigh Bardugo is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of fantasy novels and the creator of the Grishaverse.

2. A Book You’d Like To Read

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Here’s the synopsis from Goodreads:

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around—and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.

What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving?

The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries—including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo’s dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? And if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?

Welcome to Weep.

3. A Classic You’d Like To Read

Pride and Prejudice has been on my list for SO LONG, also I would like to read all of Jane Austen’s books.

4. A Book You’d Like To Re-Read

I would love to re-read Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi before the next book: Defy Me comes out in APRIL!

Also, how beautiful are these covers??

5. A Book You’ve Had For Ages and Want To Read

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. When this book came out, the book world went crazy about it!

6. A Big Book You’d Like To Read

Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson: Stormlight Archives Book 1

This book clocks in at 1,007 pages. Not sure when I will get to this massive brick, but it is definitely on my TBR.

7. An Author You’ve Previously Read and Would Like To Read More Of

Sarah J. Maas – always. But seeing as I’ve read all of her books, I would like to read more of Mary E. Pearson. I recently finished Dance of Thieves and loved it.

Mary E. Pearson wrote the Remnant Chronicles and the first book in the series is Kiss of Deception. This is another one that I hope to get to soon!

8. A Book You Got For Christmas and Would Like To Read

I asked for Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett for Christmas and received it from my grandparents. This is another book that is taunting me from my shelves.

So many people have read and loved this book and it has a lot of great ratings on Goodreads.

It is an adult fantasy with thieves. What more could we ask for in a book?

Oh and it was blurbed by Brandon Sanderson:

9. A Series You Want To Read From Start to Finish

This would hands down by the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I got the UK edition covers for Christmas and they are taunting me from my shelf as I try and get through all the other books on my TBR.

10. A Series You Want To Finish That You’ve Already Started

The Red Queen Series.

Glass Sword is another book that I have had featured on my monthly TBR’s more times than I can count! I read Red Queen back at the beginning of last year, and never picked up the second book. I wasn’t very impressed with Red Queen, but I am now listening to the audiobook and its much better the second time around (at 2x the speed) :p

11. Do You Set Reading Goals? If So, How Many Books Do You Want To Read in 2018?

I am definitely a goal setter. I make goals for how many books I want to read in a year, in a month and I even sometimes make goals for how many books or parts of a book I want to complete in a week.

My Goodreads goal is 75 books this year.

12. Any Other Reading Goals?

I make other small goals for myself like how many books I will request from publishers and how many books that I want to try and read from my Goodreads TBR and such.
