From #1 New York Times-bestselling author Marissa Meyer, comes a high-stakes world of adventure, passion, danger, and betrayal.

Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies — humans with extraordinary abilities — who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone… except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

My review of Renegades:

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the idea of a world filled with heros and villians. What I enjoyed even more was that the main character Nova aka Nightmare is on the side of the bad guys. It was interesting to read and I loved the premise.

When Nova starts questioning herself and the things the way she has always lived her life, was the moment that I got really invested in the book. The internal struggle made her character so much more real to me. Just the fact that she wouldn’t just blindly follow whomever is in charge shows that she is intelligent and can think for herself.

A lot of the action in this book is a result of vengeance, betrayal or one of the characters wanting revenge.

There are a lot of characters in this book, but I loved their depth and how Marissa Meyer wrote the backstory for each of them. Cool characters with unusual powers and names to match (Monarch, Smokescreen, Red Assassin, Nightmare).

It is so cool to me, as a reader, to get to know more about the characters and who they really are. Knowing more about them (more than just their appearance) makes them become so much more real to me. It is a way that readers can connect to characters on a deeper level. Other books, have done this more successfully, but with a wide array of character Marrissa Meyer has done a pretty good job of it.

I am also applauding the diverse cast.

As always, this is a review without spoilers, but the ending of this book, was awesome! I am a sucker for twists and turns and the end of this book did not dissapoint. I flew through the last half of this book. I was totally invested in the characters and the storyline.

I highly reccomend this book to anyone who likes books with good guys & bad guys, a plethora of plot twist and a little romance.

I already can’t wait to read the sequel to this book!

Thanks so much for reading this book review.
