5 out of 5 stars
SNYOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:
Defeated, crushed, and driven almost to extinction, the remnants of the human race are trapped on a planet that is constantly attacked by mysterious alien starfighters. Spensa, a teenage girl living among them, longs to be a pilot. When she discovers the wreckage of an ancient ship, she realizes this dream might be possible—assuming she can repair the ship, navigate flight school, and (perhaps most importantly) persuade the strange machine to help her. Because this ship, uniquely, appears to have a soul.
OTHER FACTS ABOUT THE BOOK:

MY REVIEW OF Skyward:
Young Adult – Fantasy – Science Fiction
^^^ I love both of these covers!
This was my first time reading a book by Brandon Sanderson and I really enjoyed it. I absolutely love reading books that I can turn around and let my younger sisters read. It is rare to find such a great sci-fi/fantasy book that doesn’t have an insane amount of curse words or inappropriate romantic scenes. So the fact that this book was a ‘clean’ read made me love it even more.
The storyline was so much fun and the characters were incredibly likable. Some parts of it reminded me of the Illuminae Files, so if you liked that series, this is definitely one you should add to your TBR right away!
M-Bot is one of my favorite characters, and I love the way he interacts with Spensa (our main character). Spensa, is of course totally awesome. The world building is insane and if you are looking to break into the world of Brandon Sanderson novels, what are you waiting for?
I kept waiting for a relationship to start between two of the characters and it never happened. People questioned why Brandon Sanderson didn’t have these two characters fall in love and he answered that he wanted to keep the story focused on the main character overcoming obstacles, and that is definitely something I can stand behind. (I do still have hopes for this romance to play out in the sequel).
After reading this book, I am fully on board to start reading everything that Brandon Sanderson writes. I already own quite a few books and they are sitting innocently on my “Books I Own TBR”. These books include The Mistborn Series, Elantris, Warbreaker, and Alloy of Law. Oh, and I bought my Fiancee the Way of Kings which is the first book in the Stormlight Archives series, and since its his, its basically mine, right?
Thanks so much for stopping by to read this review!
