Book Review: Red Queen

Book Review: Red Queen

Title: Red Queen

Author: Victoria Aveyard

Series? Yes!

Rating: ★★★★☆

4 out of 5 stars

I read a lot of great reviews about this book and I saw it on so many lists of books to read. The great reviews given about this book was what originally made my buy it and read it.

Without giving any spoilers, the beginning of the book is quite predictable. I’m not sure if the author intended it to be so predictable, but in the beginning you can readily tell what is going to happen to the main character.

After you get into the thick of the book, things start to pick up and it becomes less predictable.

After the action picked up, I couldn’t stop reading! I love books that make me want to know what is going to happen, and this book did just that! The twists and turns that are incorporated were something that I really enjoyed and a few of them, I didn’t see coming! I will definitely be reading the second book!

Overall, the characters in this book were well-rounded. A few of the characters, I wish I could’ve gotten a deeper look into their lives, but that may happen later in the series!

I really enjoyed reading Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. It is an easy read and yet exciting and a page-turner.

If you like books such as Throne of Glass, Hunger Games, or The Selection, you may want to pick up this book!

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)

SPOILERS – SPOILERS – SPOILERS

Here is the description of the book from Goodreads and it contains some spoilers:

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.
