MY REVIEW OF The Book Thief:

This book will be around for decades to come.

This book takes place during World War II, and is narrated by Death. It took me a long time to read this book, and I think it was for several reasons. First, I have been busy. Second, I have been reading several light and fluffy contemporary reads. Third, it takes me awhile to get into a book that is about war. But even though it took me awhile to read it, it was completely worth it.

I think that the characters are well formed and I grew attached to Liesel (the book thief), her best friend Rudy, her foster parents, Max and even the Mayor’s wife.

I loved the parts of the book that were written and drawn by Max, I thought it made his character so much more real.

This book is sad, but it’s meant to be and is true to what happened in Nazi Germany during WWII. I usually shy away from books that are about war, but it is our history and its so important to read these kind of books.

I found myself relating to Liesel in so many ways, as she grieves the loss of her brother, as she grows up and makes friends with the most unlikely people.

This book is well written, and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. You don’t have to be someone who likes reading about WWII to read this book. It may take you awhile to read it, but I urge you to give it a try!

Thanks for stopping by and reading this book review!
