A girl who really likes coffee and writing and reading

Shatter Me: Book Review

Shatter Me: Book Review

TITLE: Shatter ME

Author: Tehereh Mafi

Release Date: November 15, 2011

RATING: ★★★★☆

4 out of 5 stars

SNYOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

I have a curse
I have a gift

I am a monster
I’m more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

MY REVIEW OF Shatter Me:

This book started off slow for me, and I think it was because I couldn’t stop thinking about the last book that I read. Another thing that I think that played into it was the writing style, it took a little while to get used to.

But once I stopped thinking about the last book and focused on Shatter Me, I could not stop reading it.

I enjoyed the characters. Overall, I feel like this book is quite-hyped up and I tryed not to be disappointed as I was reading it. There are some forced relationships and some of the characters had some insta-love going on.

I had read the book Whisper beforehand, and they are very similar. So if you liked Shatter Me, read Whisper by Lynette Noni.

I also feel like this first book is just a set up for the rest of the series. In my opinion, the first book got better as I got deeper into the story and I think taht remains true for the rest of the series as well.

I am fully ready to read the rest of the Shatter Me series! I have heard such great things about the upcoming books!

Thanks so much for reading this book review.

xoxo
