Blog Hiatus | Where I’ve Been | Monthly Wrap-Up

Blog Hiatus | Where I’ve Been | Monthly Wrap-Up

I took a long break from blogging!

For the whole month of January, I only posted a few blogs. I fell through on completing Blogmas and haven’t been on a regular posting scheduling since November.

In this post I’m going to talk about where I’ve been, what’s coming for this little blog of mine, a bit of a life update and everything you can expect in the next few months from me. If any of those are things that you are interest in, just keep reading!!

In November, I had made it a goal to post everyday of December, which was a big step to take… ANNNDDDD I failed.

But I’m completely okay with that.

With a full time job, reading everyday, and family coming from three different states to visit us for the holiday season and other miscellaneous celebrations, it was a lot to juggle.

And then.. on December 24, 2019, my best friend asked me to marry him. If you would like me to do a post on how he asked, and how the wedding planning is going, let me know in the comments and I can definitely do that!!

So as far as January goes, I have been wedding planning, working full time, house searching, and trying desperately to get out of my reading slump.

The GOOD news is that I feel like I am finally out of the slump and I am only 1 book behind on my Goodreads challenge.

You may be asking, “How did you get out of your reading slump?” Or “What book helped you return to your love of reading even though you are so busy?” Or maybe “Why would you want to read when this is the perfect time of year to binge-watch everything on Netflix?”

1) Audiobooks helped me a great deal in crawling my way out of my reading slump. The audiobooks that I have been listening to this month:

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend

Dumplin’ and Puddin’ by Julie Murphy

Dumplin' by Julie MurphyPuddin' by Julie Murphy

2) The physical book that I read to get me out of my reading slump which I gave five out of five stars to was Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson.

I will have a full review of Dance of Thieves coming in February. Spoiler alert: It made me want to read every single book that Mary E. Pearson has ever written.

I only finished four books this month and that is the smallest book wrap up that I have done in a LONG time!

Blog & Upcoming

Taking such a long break from blogging, was completely amazing (just trying to honest here!). I was able to get so much done in terms of wedding planning and it gave me a chance to relax. There was no pressure to get a blog up on time, and it also gave me a much needed reprieve from the world of social media.

When I am blogging, I feel like it is part of my job to be present on social media. To share other bloggers posts, to read other peoples reviews, etc. For the most part, this is something I enjoy because I like to be an encouragement to others, but with so much happening here in the present with my life, it was becoming draining to me.

My advice to anyone in the blogging or YouTube world is that if you feel like you need a break, TAKE IT! And then once you are ready to get back to the game, you can go into confidently feeling like you are ready to tackle the world.

My hiatus from blogging and reading only solidified my desire to keep writing, reading and creating.

My long term goal is to become and author and publish my own novel. I would also LOVE to work for myself one day.

I have thoughts of owning my own bakery/coffee shop that is filled to the rim with books. Doesn’t it sound like bliss?

SO in future months:

I plan on posting three times a week. 2 of the 3 posts will be book related which can include book reviews, book tours, book wrap-ups, TBRs, book lists, book tags, book organization, First Line Fridays, and more! The other post will be geared toward lifestyle posts that can range anywhere from wedding planning, travel, organization, life updates, job updates, faith updates and future house updates.

If there is anything at all that I am missing and you would like to see more of and read about, please let me know! I have been tinkering with the idea of sharing some of my bullet journal inspiration, but I am still quite a newbie at it, so we will see if I get the courage to post it for you!

If you have read the length of this entire post and are still here, thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking by my side and supporting me through all of this. Readers are one of the major reasons why I love blogging!

I am so excited for the future of my blog, and my writing.
